Jolanta Pawlak captures the power and diversity of the human spirit in a thought provoking sculpture series titled, "Expressions of Curacao". Though grounded in reality, her work takes on a unique character that is both organic and narrative. As the viewers perspective changes, the cultural roots of each model are revealed. Her exploratory use of texture and patina make the pieces familiar yet mysterious.

Her interest in portraying the beauty and diversity of various cultures began when travel and career opportunities introduced her to people from various countries. Working with live models she transforms the spirit of each of her subjects into remarkable works of art.

Through these faces she forces us to contemplate our connection to others.
